Basic Audacity Editing Tutorial for Gaming Videos (Noise Removal, Compression)


This tutorial will walk you through Audacity’s Noise Removal and Compressor functions found in the Effects tab. How they work, how to use them, and how to make your audio sound that much better! Leave any questions in the comments section.

Audacity (official):
Audacity (Sourceforge):

Noise Removal/Reduction:
► Include at least 5 seconds of silence in your recording
► Select “silence”
► Go to Effects tab
► Click “Noise Removal” (or “Noise Reduction”)
► Get Noise Profile
► Select whole track
► Effect ► Noise Removal ► OK

► Select whole track
► Go to Effects tab
► Click “Compressor”
► OK

Then File ► Export, open your video editor and import your new edited audio file. Free of background noise, even volume, and ready to roll.

    I think it would be great to have another pause of 5 seconds in the middle of recording a gaming video, when the machine is under a load

    so do you run audacity all the while youre playing the game in order to record the sound file so you edit it later? or where do you get the game sound file from that is to be edited?
